Counter-Mapping Histories
I created a counter-map through textiles by collecting historical textile patterns from five different countries and reworking them into a new design. Instead of mapping land or borders, I used fabric as a way to represent cultural identity and memory. Each textile carried its own story, and by layering and combining them, I transformed these traditions into a new pattern that resists a single dominant narrative. The result is a textile that functions as both an archive and a counter-narrative, showing how threads can connect cultures across time and place.
