AP Studio Art: 2D-art and design
2022 | Exam score 5/5
This collection of work is exploring my feelings of living in a different country. I use the lily to represent myself. Lilies live in groups, and can bloom in different phases. I use this as a metaphor for myself, unable to bloom in certain situations, but feeling incredibly happy when I can ower. When lilies are cut and put in vases, they bend together and cannot bloom. This demonstrates my emotions; feeling cut off and separated in a glass vase from the outside world. My experience with racism and language barrier cause me to struggle with the people and my environment.

Untitled, 2022
Oil paint and Posca pen on cardboard
14'' W x 18'' H
Abstract self-portraiture of myself transforming into the petals of a lily. In the process of moving to Canada, I was afraid of becoming someone else in a new country. My hair, facial expression, and background create rhythm and movement and dramatize my internal feelings.
Composistion #1
Types of paper and Adobe Photoshop.
18'' W x 24'' H
Experimental graphic design using textures I created using various mediums: transparent paper, colored paper, newsprint paper, plastic paper and Adobe photoshop. The abstract forms and lines are representative of my face, and demonstrate my transformation into a lily. I emphasize the organic shapes as subjects by contrasting with grid based background lines.
Composition #2
Wood, colored paper, transparent paper, form board
14'' W x 20'' H
Organic forms represent lily petals as shapes and colors start merging together, indicating my harmonious relationship with the lily. Creating forms to follow the natural surface on the wood and exaggerate unique textures.
